Coping with bad weather

Hello, everyone.

I have difficulty coping with certain specific forms of weather. In cases of good weather, I don't mind. But when my local weather forecast mentions things like heavy rain, thunderstorms, gale force winds or heavy snowfall, especially overnight, I struggle to sleep at night with all that roaring and rumbling going on outside.

I particularly hate it when bolts of lightning flash in the sky. Because of this, I would blindfold myself to avoid seeing the lightning. The actual thunder rumbles aren't such a problem because I would wear ear plugs to reduce the noise. Even so, I struggle to cope with sudden, loud, uncontrolled noises of any description.

Has anyone had any difficulties with coping with bad weather?

  • As long as the rain is not too heavy, I sleep better when it is rainy. I think the sound soothes me because it is a form of white noise and it blocks out the other sounds. Also, it means I am less likely to be woken up by people coming home from a night out - people stay indoors so bring it on!
