Anyone wear their pants lower and cannot stand wearing a belt tightly?

I have NEVER been able to tolerate wearing pants where the waistband is supposed to go or wear a belt that is snug. I wear them lower and loosely. They sit on the sides of my beautiful hips and never squeeze me. They don't show butt crack nor pubic region, but the tops of my butt cheeks are exposed from the pants (covered by my shirt). I also hate tucking in my shirt. It feels too restrictive.

I have seen people wear a belt so tightly around their belly that their body protrudes above and below the belt for the majority of the day. I have never asked, but I get uncomfortable thinking about how they are doing that? I rather never leave the house than wear a belt like that. It makes me so uncomfortable that I can't focus on anything else. Is this an autistic thing or am I just weird?

  • It will depend on the body shape as to how well a belt will work - I wear a belt that sits just above my hip bones and its function it to stop my trousers / jeans from going below that level.

At the times when I'm a bit tubbier than others I develop a bit of a belly which tries to push my trousers down and the belt then has to fight this by using my hip bones as the anchor point below which it won't go.

This can have the effect of causing my belly to hang over the top of the belt - but without the belt my trousers would rely on my *** cheeks to stop them falling down.

This is pretty common with middle aged blokes and the workarounds are:

1 - get fit to lose the belly. I tried that by my *** cheeks also shrink so I am currently still having to wear the belt tightly to keep the trousers up.

2 - give up and wear a kilt or kaftan (being Scottish the first one works but gets a bit draughty)

3 - braces. Oh for the love of god I could never wear hipster braces - the shame!!

4 - inflict the trauma of my trousers dropping whenever I take my hands out my pockets. You deserve better!
