Autism escapism

I am on the spectrum myself. For my Masters degree essay I am looking for data sources regarding autism in relation to escapism. General Google searches aren't always that productive.

For example:

  • Gaming and loss of social responsibility vs reality (appeal of)
  • Utilising interests as communications methods
  • Health benefits of escapism

Can anyone recommend places to find this? Academic papers and the like.

Thanks

  • Don’t look for autistic sources.

Autism being a mismatch for society will mean added stress. Look for gaming in relation to de-stressing, longevity. Look for escaping as a means of rejuvenation. Or as a way to create necessary boundaries for uninterrupted time, which one needs to heal. You can’t keep picking at a wound interrupting the process.

Often autistic “traits” are confused with expressions of “trauma”.
