I make my own bread, only in the breadmaker, not in the oven, because it's easier. I usually do it half & half, half white flour and half whole brown. I've made a loaf this morning, but it takes 5hrs, so not going to be ready for ages. I've just been reading on the internet about soda bread which sounds nice. You're suppose to use buttermilk, which i haven't got, but i've found a recipie on line to make soda bread without buttermilk, so i'm about to go back into the kitchen and try this. When my ordinary bread os cool i slice ir up and put it in the freezer, so i can get it out a slice at a time, so i'll do the same with the sodabread The internet says it's nice for toast.
that bread stance is appropriate for you, Sparkly. ‘The Queen was in the parlour, eating bread and butter’ doesn’t work so well.
I can eat toast with butter, but can only eat bread with butter on if it is for a sandwich.
Bread is bread as far as I'm concerned, although I do tend to prefer wholegrain. In terms of brand, I'll usually opt for supermarket own-brand, or whatever happens to be the cheapest available. Rare that I buy it, but one can't beat the taste of a freshly baked loaf.
hope you are feeling better .
Oh when I am like that I can only eat crackers and butter. similar I suppose.
That was a lifesaver to me this week. I got very anxious and upset for a few days (beyond my normal levels) and my appetite went away completely. A little toast with butter was all my tastebuds could handle. It’s like shutdown makes my sensitivity to all sensory input skyrocket. That includes tastebuds. I have to use gluten free bread. Marks and Spencer’s makes the nicest one, but I often make do with ok-ish alternatives
