What do you like about Christmas?

It’s a funny one for me this year. I usually could quite happily do without Christmas, especially the lights. However, I have a 7 month old daughter now. She is fascinated by them. The look of wonder and inquisitiveness on her face has actually made me see it slightly differently this year. I’m getting a lot of joy from it actually. The lights are still overwhelming to me, but I just watch her instead.

Reading your comment has transported me right back to my son's second Christmas when he was 18 months old. He had woken up after I had been busy making my living room look festive. His reaction when I carried him into the living is one that I will never forget... Pure wonderment in a way that completely melted my heart, as he looked around the room. 

Therefore, I can relate to the joy you feel as a result of your daughter's fascination with Christmas lights. 

Just from my daughters look of wonderment at seven months old, I can only begin to imagine the joy expressed at 18 months. It must have been incredible. It’s funny how having her around has changed my outlook. This is typically a period I don’t look forward to, and yet here I am, actually enjoying it! Truly a transformation for me.

I have lots to look forward to. It need to remember to enjoy the moment too though. That is important, I’m learning.
