Best concert

Who have you seen live and who would you like to see?

  • I saw Phil Collins as a teen, was great.  Also Men at Work when I visited my best friend in the US.  Daniel Lanois at the Basement in Sydney.  And Leonard Cohen (when he was older) in Sydney.  I haven't been to a lot of concerts as you can see.  I would love to see Travis or Coldplay live.  I wish I had seen Keith Green (Christian musician) when he was alive.

  • I've seen Leonard Cohen live in Sydney, a few years ago.

  • I love Rod Stewart!!  Even his Christmas/jazz standards.

  • I envy you The Cure and Echo and the Bunnymen, and TWO visits to Glastonbury Blush

    I adore The Cure's 'A Forest'.

  • I saw the 2019 film, about him, at QFT in Belfast.

  • I'm listening to The Fall, now, on Spotify.

  • I'm a bit of a latecomer to Leonard Cohen. I saw the Spooky Men's Chorale a few years ago and they ended their set with Dance me to the End of Love, which I loved. That was probably when I started going out of my way to find out more about him. I really like his political stuff, but not so bothered by some of his love songs....

  • The songs are a bit sombre sometimes it’s true. I like them though.

  • I've grown to like Leonard a lot but his records were played a lot in our house when I was a child and at that age it just felt like an instant shroud of depression. My parents got to see him live in Dublin twice I think - about a decade back.

  • I've never got round to seeing him live. My wife did see him in the small WH Smith at London Victoria Station! She said he's REALLY tall! I wish I could have been at The Cure in Orange gig too - that's one of my favourite live videos and probably my favourite period for the band. Having said that, their Glastonbury headline set from a couple of years ago was beautiful. Still haven't seen them live though!

  • I’ve seen Nick Cave a couple of times - he’s great live. Fascinating man. There was an interview with him on Newsnight the other night which was interesting. I love Leonard Cohen.

  • Seeing Japan was my second concert -  I was so excited to see them! My first concert was Duran Duran. In my late teens and twenties I saw so many bands - wonderful times. Siouxsie and the Banshees, The Clash, the Pogues, Elvis Costello, Bob Dylan, Tom Petty, The Fall, Christy Moore, The Cure, the Waterboys, Echo and the Bunnymen, so many, and lots of Classical music concerts too - with great conductors like Simon Rattle, Klaus Tennstedt, claudio Abbado, I feel so lucky to have see so much live music. I went to Glastonbury festival twice.
id really like to go and see Arcade Fire, and I think the Killers would be great to see live too.

  • Ooh, I've not been to many recently but went to quite a few in my student days. Standounts have to be Therapy? at The Duchess in Leeds and Killing Joke at Leeds Poly and the Young Gods at Manchester Met Uni.

The biggest gig I've been to was entirely by accident. My sister and I were on Holiday on Paris, entirely by coincidence it was the 200th anniversary of the storming of the Bastille (14th July 1989). Jean-Michel Jarre was playing a free gig in La Defense in the Western side of the city. I think they estimated the number of people at over 1 million! We were on the Eastern side of the river, about a mile and a half away from where he was playing, but we could still hear clearly and see a fair bit of the light show (but not the animatronics he apparently had I think). Completely dazzling and free to boot!

These days I'm a bit more sedate but there's a gorgeous Anglo-French folk dance band called Topette!! (check them out on YouTube!) who are great to catch live.

I'd like to have seen Leonard Cohen live and have never seen Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds yet. Something to try to do before too long I think.

  • That made me laugh too Laughing It's one of those 'you know you're autistic when' moments.

  • That's really made me laugh. Laughing  I can sense the panic within you at the notion a bot might have feelings. Wink

  • I have Luna, mainly in my 20s.

I went to a Pete Tong concert recently too with various Ibiza music acts that's not on the list.

I hope you get to see some at some point, especially Taylor Swift Slight smile

Yep, Bowie was amazing except I'd wanted to see him in the 70s but saw him in the 80s (prefer his 70s music) and also it was the Milton Keynes Bowl so I was miles from the stage.

However, great to have seen him at all.

I hope you are keeping well.

  • Wow Debbie you've seen so many live :) I bet David Bowie would have been amazing to see live.

  • The bot sound more human than me- that's worrying! It feels whereas I merely think

  • Maybe we should rename this joint Spamalot (''tis a silly place').

Not being too serious, I value this forum a lot and I know some of this stuff is inevitable

  • I've not seen anybody live but I'd like to see Taylor Swift one day Grin
