Members

I was thinking today about past members I knew and spoke to here. I do this a lot, wonder how they are and what they're up to now. Wonder if they even remember me.

The members I've remembered and thinking of are,

Kiki, Aidie, Mrs Snooks, Tassimo, Remora, ConsciousBadger, DaveAsperg, A=bcd, Adele M and Kitsune. And Plastic who sadly passed away. I hope the others are all alive and well.

Some have been gone longer than others but I remember they were all lovely people and they brought a lot of wisdom, fun and happiness to the forum. Kiki created the 3 good things post. I was telling the nurses about then earlier on and it brought back a lot of happy memories.

If any of them lurk and check in I hope you guys see you're still remembered :)

I hope you're all doing great.

  • Hi, I quite miss Conscious Badger, I find it hard that she was quite a big contributor and then all of a sudden gone. I hope she is okay and well. Maybe a lot of us use the site while we are trying to find answers to our autism and then feel ready to move on.

  • I miss her too. She was really helpful and sweet, always had a good word for everyone who needed support. Yes I think you're right. I wonder if one day someone will mention us in a post if we have moved on as well?

  • I find following threads when users have a name much easier. The computer generated NAS numbers can become confusing, I take things so literally that when I first joined I thought deleted user was actually a singular person, or am I just dense?  Smiley

  • Lol you're not alone! Every time I see deleted user I always think it was just someone's name Grinning

  • That's interesting I've never heard of it before. I have dyslexia but no problems with numbers.

  • I am the same with things like reading out credit card numbers, it normally takes several attempts. It’s seems as if the numbers are moving because they are close together. I often write card numbers  down with large spaces in between, dyscalculia is a neurodiverse issue as is obviously autism, you don’t have to have all the different parts of dyscalculia to have it.  I’m dyslexic, I can read but can’t see how a word is formed to spell it. I just literally memorise everyday words and over the years have got better and obviously spell check was a god send. I’ve just read something that also calls dyscalculia, number dyslexia.

  • I've heard of that, thanks. But that also includes difficulties with calculations, I can do that though I don't enjoy it. What I really hate is having to enter long numbers, as I have to really concentrate and even then have been known to make an error. Like when having to put the long number on a bank card in to pay online. But it's worst on a phone - I literally have nightmares about that.

  • Yes, if there are two or three people in the same thread with generated numbers then it’s just a jumble, I think the word your looking for is dyscalculia.

  • I totally agree. I know some people on the spectrum love numbers, but I don't. I seem to have some kind of number dyslexia (dysnumbria? I expect there is a name for it but I don't know it and don't feel like googling it sorry) or even number blindness where my brain seems to want to just skip over numbers.

I also wondered about deleted user because that would be the sort of funny name I could imagine someone picking!
