I need reviews

I have hesitated to ask for reviews about a place, but I most do it.

Many will understand how important is to have reference about a place before 'buying' or investing in a product or service.

The other day someone mentioned 'Autism Oxford' as a place to go to for a diagnosis. I contacted them and they were very fast in replying to my inquiries.

Now, my tio preference is the Lorna Wing Centre, but I am sad to learn they are not accepting any new referrals, for now.

So, due to the circumsntance and the urgency of my case ( I need an urgent diagnosis for my daughter)....I am now left just just a few options, one of theem is the Autism Oxford.

Does ny of you have some reviews about that place?

Thank you in advance for any information on the subject

  • Autism Oxford assessments are accepted by NHS amd LA

  • Hi

I think you are confusing Autism Oxford with Oxford ADHD Centre. Autism Oxford, have never closed their lists and work hard to keep waits no longer than 8 weeks.

Assessments are NICE compliant and accepted by NHS snd LAs.

They also run the free to access pre and post diagnostic support for young people in Oxfordshire in collobration with CAMHS. This can be accessed on their website under commissioned services and clicking on living well with neurodiversity.

    I hope that helps.

  • Sadly no recommendation to offer, I was diagnosed at the Lorna Wing and they are first rate.

The real bad news is that most good services do have a lengthy waiting list. In fact, in the current climate I'd be suspicious of anyone who could book you an appointment tomorrow.

I know that's not what you want to hear.

  • I'm not the OP but I'm in the area so I can help! Autism Oxford stops taking new referrals sometimes in order to clear their backlog- they tend to fill all their appointments for a set period of time and then close the list until all of those clients have been seen.

They're actually very good- I had an excellent assessment experience with them and they were really knowledgeable about the different ways autism can present itself rather than sticking to the old stereotypes.

  • Did you end up using Autism Oxford? If so how was your experience? They have almost no waitlist and the other Oxford area option has a 6-8 month waitlist. Just makes me wonder why. But I need fast  diagnosis for my teen so planning to go with them. Fingers crossed!

  • I am in a similar position, and would like to get a diagnosis that is acceptable to my LA Oxfordshire County Council.   Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
