Could my spouse have ASD

My husband has no diagnosis of ASD. He does really struggle with our sons ASD traits and he admits he can’t understand why he does certain things. We are getting help as an family. I had counselling a few months back and amongst a few issues I mentioned my husbands struggles. She said maybe he has ASD, she believes she and her Son have themselves although neither are diagnosed . Could this mean with my husband he could have ASD?

  • Only a proper assessment would tell him for sure - if he wants one.  But we do know that it is genetic.  Your son got the traits from somewhere.  An indicator as to whether he could be autistic and might want an assessment would be the AQ50 test.  You'll find that online.  Completing that will spit out a preliminary indicator of the likelihood, albeit it is not a diagnosis.
