I can’t help it. I guess it takes one to know one, and no, I’d never say anything to that person about it!
Also, does anyone else see a TV personality, notice that they are Autistic, and research them only to find that yes, they are?
Victor Meldrew from One Foot in the Grave.
Couldn't never settle down, and content himself, as well as having Zero Tolerance for mishaps.
I found a blog, she has few articles about autistic representations in recent movies, good critique, did they intend it, or it's there and they did not notice, or it's actor portraing who is autistic etc

Yes, same here!
My autistic&ADHD friend and I do this together. Sometimes on fictional characters, sometimes on people we know. Sometimes we have arguments about which form of neurodivergent we think they are.
Having worked in special schools, I can usually spot the kids with ASC, ADHD or whatever. In church, a parent said her child was awaiting assessment and I said that I guessed as much. Similarly, when of my neighbours said that her son was autistic I was not surprised, I had suspected years ago that he was neurodivergent but had not said anything as it wasn't my business. I find that kids learn to mask in formal settings at school but get them "in the wild" in after-school clubs and community activities and the traits become apparent if you know what to look for.
Adults are harder to read because they tend to have more experience with masking, but yes, I spot the traits. In tv dramas, I wonder if some characters are being played particularly well, or if the actors themselves really are autistic.
I stopped doing it
I saw us everywhere, in those moments when the mask drops

Yes I agree. I can immediately relate to these people, there is an instinctive connection.

It takes one to know one indeed. Not one but two of my ex-boyfriends from my youth with whom I have stayed friends have now self-identified. Like minds moreover clearly attract.
I forgot to add I can also immediately tell if someone is autistic in real life too.
Yes I have a pretty good ‘neuroscope’ too.
I'm waiting for my diagnosis, pretty sure I am autistic.
But yes, I have read a lot about it and feel I recognise the signs and have looked a few people up and it's surprising how many people are. I did it after an episode of Doctor Who and some people believe he could be autistic as well.
