Connect with other autistic people particularly on this forum. It is a form of autistic joy. I also love watching Aucademy videos and listening to autism podcasts.
I also like to read, I am currently reading My Name is Leon.
Great topic for discussion.
That all sounds really lovely and relaxing Kate :) I don't think I've ever seen a proper sunset. I'm usually sleeping when it's setting and coming up! Near where I live there's a very old castle which you can walk around, I've never been but I think you would find it interesting as it's very old and ancient looking. I love going for walks in the woods as well I used to take my little bear with me :)
I'll have to see if I can try and do this at some point, maybe when it is warmer and nicer here over summer. It sounds like you've been on lots of hikes and had a fun experience :) For now I'll make a list of things I'll need like a backpack to start with. It sounds so peaceful and relaxing when you go hiking.
Being with my husband and children, walking in beautiful, wild places - especially ancient woodlands. Being by the sea. Listening to music whilst drinking a cocktail and watching a beautiful sunset change colour outside my window. Exploring the streets of a beautiful city with lots of interesting architecture, cafes and bookshops. Seeing an owl whilst out walking.
I highly recommend hiking :) I got into it when I was 17 and it has become a huge passion. I love any hike but I love backpacking tours most- it's so freeing to be away from everything and to be in nature- life is simple when hiking :) and there are beautiful landscapes. I like being in nature.
I don't play many games but I did play minecraft before, it was a lot of fun. But I've not played in ages.
Audiobooks are great. I really enjoy them. Reading is fun but holding attention can be an issue for me to, I have this issue with movies to. Otis sounds adorable, it must be good for you going out with him as well. I'd like a dog but I'm allergic unfortunately.
Yes, the audiobooks help when my brain is at Mach 2. I struggle to read, not because I can’t read, I just can’t concentrate long enough. The audiobooks stop some of my anxiety as while I’m listening, I’m not thinking so much. Lucky enough to live in a small village, just got back from taking Otis the Jack Russell through the woods, peaceful and tranquil.
Playing video games like Minecraft, Hollow Knight, and Terraria. It's so hard to find friends who want to play Minecraft Bedrock edition with me.
Hiking :) standing on top of a summit and feeling free. Being out in nature with my backpack and away from the stress and decisions of everyday life that I struggle with so much. I hope I recover from my injuries soon so that I can go out into nature again and feel free.
