So I often wonder what benefits I have received from having my ASD diagnosis 3 years ago? One thing I will say is it's given me a better way of understanding why I get so overwhelmed or anxious around new surroundings.
An example is right now whilst I'm sat in a car showroom waiting for my car's MOT with people chatting, door creaking open and slamming shut, low volume music playing in the background along with a TV being on, the clicks of sales assistants pens etc. It all makes me feel on edge and I cannot wait to get out of here. I am starting to think that I may carry a discrete pair of industrial ear plugs that I can place in my ears when I have times like this. Too much sensory overload at the minute.
I am trying my best to take my mind of the situation by playing games on my phone.
Well like I say at last my diagnosis is actually helping me realise where I can improve on my life by finding solutions.
I hate this too. Solidarity.
