My grandpa’s got all the symptoms of a Codine addiction because of his Bowel incontinence. I find it so difficult to cope that I turn to alcohol to numb the stress,
Hi! How are you doing now? I also realized that alcohol was destroying my life and that it could turn into a disaster a month ago. I understand that my depression, as well as some aggressive antics, are associated with alcohol intoxication. I used to blame the people around me for their problems, and now only my relatives are left with me. They are supporting me now, and it is very valuable. I also attend sobriety support meetings online, which helps me understand that I am acting in the right direction and I will succeed.

I'm so sorry to hear of your grandad suffering and passing away. I'm also sad to hear you too were and are suffering. I hope that you find your own form of help that doesn't involve alcohol. It's hard for me to personally relate to addiction as I gave up alcohol/drugs/caffeine 25 years ago in an attempt to help my own struggles but it wasn't due to addiction. I do understand it in the sense of being obsessed about something but I'm not sure if it's the same thing???
Do you get ruined* or just have a drink every night? just self curious.
sorry about your news
Update on this: He’s very unfortunately passed away after suffering a heart attack. I do not believe that it was the Codine, but simply old age.
I might not need to do that. I do have the willpower to scale back my drinking.

sounds very stressful. idk much about codine addictions. what do his doctors say? how is his other health? you're i guess self-medicating, which i've done... i think it also depends on how prone you might be to becoming an alcoholic, or (insert other drug here). i hope you pull out of it. you're undergoing a lot of stress --------- i hope your grandpa is taking care of himself, and his incontinence...
I am very sorry to hear this, maybe contact your gp and ask for support in regards to your stress and drinking. Maybe they can put you in touch with people who can help, I hope you receive some help Soon and we’ll done for being open and honest about your situation
