Help!!!

I'm finding it increasingly frustrating when taking my little boy out in the public. The "NORM" child is calling him a freak. Its so upsetting to me as all my little boys wants to do is play with the kids.

  • Ah, thanks for explaining the situation.

As well as seeing what other advice people can share on the Community you may want to contact our Parent to Parent support service. It would put you in touch with other parents who may have experienced similar situations who can talk to you about possible ways to address this issue.

    Hi Wallaceand gromit,

So sorry to hear your son is facing problems from this other child at the moment. It sounds like you mean one particular child, is it something that is happening regularly in a particular place then?

If it's part of an organised group and is an ongoing problem is there anyone there you can discuss the situation with or perhaps talk to the parents of the child?

I also thought, and I hope you don't mind, that I'd move this discussion over to the Parents and Carers section. That may help other parents see this discussion and jump in with their advice as well.

No this is just when I am taking him out in general. on two occassions with two different little girls aged around 8-10.

Sorry, my little boy is 5 and was diagnosed with ASD 2/12 yrs ago. He's has moderate autism but is in an assement centre until we can find him a place in main stream with support. He has good vocab of language too.

What I meant by the nomal child is a child in particular and not and ASD child.

I was so angry with her calling him a freak. Ignorance I know but I seem to be coming up against this quiet a lot now and all he wants to do is socialise.

  • Hi Wallaceand Gromit

Sorry to hear you are having problems. Could you tell us a bit more about the difficulties you are having? It might help other users to understand and offer their ideas and support. Smile

  • When you say "NORM" Kid do you mean you have more than one child or other children in general?!?
