Here is a demonstration of the problem of using the word AUTISM. It is similar to going to the doctors and being told you are ill, well yes you are ill but that is not really very helpful.
AUTISM covers such a huge spectrum we cannot be specific when talking. When you talk about a CURE for Autism we are usually talking about IMPROVING not curing the individual. At the moment we are all hearing about BREAKTHROUGHS curing Autism, but these only apply to a small percentage in each case and often only HELP not cure, again this demonstrates the need for sub categories in the diagnosis process.
If we look at everyone diagnosed with and ASD as being an INDIVUAL, we then look how to help each individual and determine what help they need. I am seeing far to often at the moment blanket methods being applied to all children with ASD, yes it works with some but only some.
Research is being done to help lots of people with an ASD, and I feel it is important to understand a lot of this does help, but only when applied to the right child. After all you wouldn't give medicine for one condition to a patent if the patent has a completely different condition.
