Problems with no answers

It is alright having the autism problems/issues questions, but what are the true real answers ? We all talk here and pass the ball about, but no one actually has the ball.(solutions).

Maybe it is my autism trait, I just wish clear questions with clear answers. It is like the land of confusion here, which doesn't help the condition of autism which can be the land of confusion anyway,, hey ! I feel at home now Wink

Seriously !

I think that is were the frustration with the NAS comes from, they are suppose to be the experts/guides/champions, but they just point you onto an exit sign too nowhere ?

I feel like a person without legs but is being told by the world and the NAS have you tried running or run faster ?

  • thanks Mike, that was a nice, clear, honest reply Smile one dove to the other

  • quote "As the community manager, I am able to represent the views of community members to the organisation"

the surfs have been talking in the village forum, but behold there is a path to the castle, a messager called Micheal a man of the king.  He can speak were others are not allowed. He has access to the chambers...of the king of the NAS.

Why not just set up a modern day direct forum posting section questions for the NAS,  with a response from the relative NAS sections, without the secret behind the NAS veils discussion, Micheal you are acting like an unvoted union shop stewart who is the only one allowed to speak the employers,,

COME ON ! get with the 21st century NAS !

Send this message by dove to the castle NAS from the village fool.

  • Hi autismtwo,

I like your analogy. I wouldn't say I'm acting as a direct messenger to the 'king' and it sometimes takes me a bit of time to walk the path to 'the castle' to get a detailed answer to questions posted here, but NAS departments do now, and have always, posted replies on the community where relevant. I'm here to make sure members have a safe and fully functioning web space to have open discussions and, should any of the discussions require input from NAS teams, I make sure they are aware of the thread here on the community.

This forum was never set up as a place to pose questions or complaints to the NAS - there is a clear feedback structure for this. The community is a service allowing people affected by autism to gain support from one another and discuss things important to them. We are starting to use live chat functionality to provide further accessibility the staff here at the NAS and, while only in the early stages at the moment, I'm looking to grow this offering going forward.

My PR skills are a bit rusty, I think. My mum says I'm too honest to 'spin' things so rest assured, my interest lies with ensuring the community is as effective and useful a support service as it can be.

Sending this message back by dove (kind of like an old style version of Twitter, I guess).

    Best wishes,
    Mike, NAS

  • Hi autismtwo,

As the community manager, I am able to represent the views of community members to the organisation. While I cannot immedietely answer all the questions posed here, I will act as a liaison between the community and our expert staff here at the NAS to try and help as best we can.

I'm not sure what your question is in this instance but if you'd like to send a question to me, I will make sure staff take a look. My email is community.manager@nas.org.uk and I'd encourage all members to contact me any time there is an issue you'd like the NAS to look at.

This forum is a peer support service where people can come to ask for, and receive, support from others that may be in a similar situation. If there are problems specifically relating to the NAS, it would be more effective to contact me via email or complete a formal complaint form - http://www.autism.org.uk/~/media/NAS/Documents/About%20us/How-are-we-doing-feedback%20form_updated280212.ashx

    Best wishes,
    Mike, NAS

  • the NAS are beyond me ? it is like finding strangers who are eating in your house and telling you they own the house and you ?

    Not Autism Service ~ NAS

See there I GO again ! Arghhhhh,, thank goodness people like Mike exist to do a good job in NAS PR editing and answer no questions.

  • its like a charity that claims to feed the starving - a starving person goes there and they just give information and point them to other places such as soup kitchens / salvation army etc...but all the while they still collect enormous funds to feed the starving, yes I probably have the same trait, thats why its frustrating. If someone is claiming to help people with ASD why do they tell them to go somewhere else ?
