could just sit and cry

It feels like my somns whole life is being ripped out from underneth him, we've had to take him out of mainstream school as he cant cope, he will be home tutored til the end of his exams, hes decided he cant go to the school prom as we wont be there for him, and we have had to pull him out f the german exchange holiday as its very obvious that he wont cope as he keeps shutting down. can anyone suggest a holiday or days out that I could take him on so that he has something to look forward to that I can be there for him if needed and maybe meet some other Aspie kids.

  • Hi Barnaby Crumble,

Hope things have improved a little since your last post?  My son has Aspergers but is only six.

Our holidays usually involve a quiet stay in the country somewhere, my son loves peace and quiet but with enough open space to run or walk about and explore (exhaust himself)! Birdwatching or Fishing.  A Caravan or camping holiday might be nice, give you both time to chill and chat and get things in perspective. Not too expensive either.  Alot of sites often have adventure parks near by if your son is up to Canoeing or other out doorsie stuff, these sorts of things might help to give his confidence a boost.

On another note my son has enlisted in a martial arts class, he loves it.  I cannot sing its praise ennough, *** SOOL.  Mainly visual learning, helps to keep him fit, a real sense of acheivement with different coloured belts to aim for, and a sense of being part of a team. Parents are actively encouraged to go along and watch. My sons class contains the old, young, a wheelchair bound child and 3 or for other kids i am certain have Asd.  If your son is interested in Martial arts i would definatly give *** SOOL , or similar a try.

My suggestions might not be for you at all, we are all so different in our interests.  I hope you find some great moto x days out and you both have a well deserved break.
