Life kicks us in the teeth so much,  yet we expect things to be different the next time.

Life isn't fair, and nor is it meant to be. Things are beyond explanation.

The greater our expectations, the greater our resentments.

  • If you're a pessimist and a cynical person like me, then you'll often think that there's a huge amount of factors that affect your life, and that you only have control over a stark minority of them, so when you look back at your life and really think about it, you don't really have control over most of the things that happen in your life, and the autonomy you do have to write your own destiny is very small. It's sad but true. It's a harsh truth of life.
