What do you like about being autistic?

I'll start- I notice patterns, most people don't think about. I'm good at tuning people out and living in my own world. I like my speech is monotonous and detailed, I've had good feedback for that. So, what about you?

  • I like that I can live in my head.

I like that I don't need to rely on people for my day to day happiness.

I like that I can see things in certain way that other people can't.

I like the ability I have to hyperfocus on things therefore I can become quite the expert on certain topics (and that I can control it).

I like how I have very high spacial awareness I think ALOT of NT just have no idea what's going on around them in any given moment.

I like how I can see changes in peoples appearance and/or behaviour that other people can't even though I can't always tell what the change is.

    I like my analytical mind

    I like my logic

    I like my routines

  • I like many of my autistic traits such as:

    • Visual thinking - makes it easier to write creatively
    • Attention to detail
    • Intensity of focus
    • Intensity of experience generally
    • Monotropic focus and commitment to work
    • Passionate about interests- particularly autism itself which I want to pursue for employment . I always want to know more about research topics such as autism
    • Strong empathy
    • Seeing things for what they are/honesty
    • Deep thinker, analytical and observant
    • Punctuality/rules and routines are really important
    • Different perspective with regards to everything

I really like being able to connect with and relate to  other autistic people.

  • well this is a good question.

i think that for me, as i only found out a month ago, it means i'm not crazy or broken my experiences have a name and there's a vast worldwide community of people who are also autistic so i'm finally really got a community.

  • I like so many aspects of my Autism.

I'm a pattern thinker making me good at anything which involves patterns, sequences and repetition.

I like being detail oriented so I can see some beneficial things others can't see.

I like how it can make me so talented at what I'm interested in.

I like how it increases my concentration and focus.

I like how it gives me the ability to think of things others can't think of.

I like that it gives me the will to be myself not unconsciously falling into wrong standard norms.

  • I would have to agree on the same thing, I'm happy for just being me and being original and much different from everyone else.
