Hi everyone,

New to this site.

Just wanted to start a light hearted discussion to get your views.

Some take offence to one or the other so I am wondering...

Do you prefer the term Autistic Adult or Adult with Autism?

Why do you feel this way?

Or are you not bothered?

I'm an autistic adult because "adult with autism" sounds like someone doesn't like the fact that I'm autistic. I don't dislike that I'm a woman, so I'm not a person with womanhood. I'm a shortsighted person, not a person with shortsightedness. I am autistic and I am not ashamed.

But I will always respect individual preferences.

I just say 'aspie' Person with autism feels like person with something foreign attached - not part of them
