My 9 year old son has just been diagnosed and could really do with some friends

Hi everyone

I've just joined after my sons recent diagnosis.

I could really do with some advice.

My son is 9 and has become very isolated,  he only had a few friends but they no longer bother with him.

He is no longer attending mainstream school, im currently waiting for his educational health care plan to be done so we can get him into a more specialist school.

In the meantime he has become so sad, he plays on both xbox and ps4 but no longer has any online friends Cry

I'm trying to help get him some online friends, does anyone know of anything?

Or are there anyone who has a child who would like to add him on xbox or ps4, he could really do with some friends.

Makes me so sad to see him so sad!

Please help!

  • Hi Dean

We live in Bristol. My son has a ps4 and loves fortnite! Maybe they could add eachother?

Do you mind me asking how long it took you to get his ECHP?

We are waiting and desperate to get him into a more specialised school.

  • Hi Stacey

I will talk to Aston when he gets home and will give him Caydens gaming tag. Hopefully the become friends.

  • Hi

It took absolutely ages to get the EHCP. Astons primary school was not much help at first, they just seemed to make out it was his fault for the way he was, once we got it they changed slightly only due to the fact that they now get an extra 4grand for Aston being there. In past years he had had a number of eye tests, hearing tests and visiting a number of other health professionals. Before we got his diagnosis we enquired about sending Aston to same high school as his sister, but I was not happy about  most of their answers. I am not willing now  to send him to mainstream secondary as would get picked on etc. Now that we got diagnosis we can look for a school that is more adapted for people like Aston. Sorry if it seems like I am babbling but we are now getting on with finding things out about autism and are ecstatic that wat he has been going thorough for his 9 years has now got a name. It's not changed him but has changed the way that we are as a family (for the better). What's your sons name, on and off fortinte and is he on it mosts nights.
