Hi all. My son finds it very difficult to sleep at night and asks for his phone every single bedtime. Is this a bad idea? I very rarely give in but I am at a loss as to what to do. I'm also wondering if music may be a good idea? Advice appreciated

It's a tough situation. Personally I'm not a no person and if I had a child I wouldn't give them a mobile phone, but if it helped them sleep then it would be a catch 22. Maybe look for an alternative - definitely try music but it might be visual stimulation he's looking for. If you think about it the amount of light that comes off devices can light up a whole room so that shining right in anyone's eyes probably isn't a good thing especially at night. I think in the long term it would be a good idea to find an alternative because phones/devices can easily become an addiction too.
