CHICKEN POX

I had Chicken Pox,, really bad when I was young, my two brothers also had the disease at the same time but laughed and skipped about eating Ice Cream, whilst I went into fever, a mass of spots and near death.

Anyone else with Autism experience Chicken Pox really badly ?

There is another reason why I write this post, my son also caught chicken pox and since then as been diagnosed also with Autism.

If I look at photos of him, he is a different person post chicken pox, you can see it in the photos of him quite evident.

These are my own original thoughts based on personal experience, the autism was noted post-chickenpox.  How do other people think there maybe a link with autism and chickenpox ? Sounds to me like a touchy subject for you Scorpion ?

    Not a 'touchy subject'.

It's just that it seems like every other day there's a new post on here saying "X happened, and then my son/daughter/partner/whatever was diagnosed with autism" usually followed by either a question, implication, or explicit statement, about how the two things must be linked.

But 99 times out of 100, maybe even 999 times out 1000, or 9999 out of 10000, there is no link.

    It's coincidence.

As the previous poster said, most children get Chicken Pox. If there was a causal link between Chicken Pox and Autism, there would be a lot more people on the Autistic Spectrum!

The sun also rose, and set, the day before every person that's ever been diagnosed with an Autistic Spectrum condition was born. Does that mean that if you're born on a day after a day in which the Sun rose, and set, then you'll be Autistic?! No, of course it doesn't! The two things are not causally linked! It is pure (and, in this example, unavoidable) coincidence.
