A long standing problem resurfaced today.
I went to the chemist with my prescription and the chemist refused to give me my medication because I couldn't confirm my address.
Eventually it became clear that the computer system had printed my previous address on the medication. And I was verbally giving them my current address.
Now, back to the beginning of this story. I moved to my current flat eight years ago. I registered with a new local GP and gave my new address. So far so good.
A couple of years later I ended up in hospital with heart problems, the hospital medical records dug up my old previous address. I gave them my new address, they kept finding my old address in their system. I even missed follow up appointments because the hospital sent them by post to my previous address.
Yesterday, my GP sent me to hospital for X-rays to check if I hadn't broken my foot. Everywhere, I gave my current address.
Today I went back to the GP and I was prescribed strong painkillers.
My prescription had my current address. But the pharmacy computer printed my old previous address on the medicine itself. So the pharmacy assistant was at a loss what to do. Eventually, reluctantly they gave me the pain killers.
What a hassle.
