I had a couple of photos I wanted to share but I'm having trouble converting them to gif on my new MacBook.
I'm puzzled why this website insists on GIF files?
I don't convert jpeg to gif. I just rename them as gifs.
I agree, it's strange having to rename file extensions.
When I use Windows to rename jpegs/jpgs to GIFs, I get a warning message from the system that programs may be unable to open these files.
Renaming file names is routine, but changing file extensions is dangerous because extensions usually indicate the file type.
I'm going to try to upload an actual GIF file to see if it works.
I'm confused.
I am uploading .jpg files which I have just renamed .Gif . But they are still jpeg files.
The programs I used are either Fastone and windows itself.
Fastone still tells me that it is still a JPEG file, despite the .gif extension.
The following is a renamed gif. Fastone says it has 211,312 different colours, file size 351kb
When I actually converted it to gif, the colour count went down to 256 and file size to up 1,800kb.
