Frankley I'm disgusted by the NAS (wait for the Censorship)

I contacted the NAS wanting help as an adult who has been diagnosed with aspergers and now 34.

After a shambles of an advice line that to be totally honest was a waste of time after over a week of trying to get in contact with 2 people doing one persons job.

City Road Address and yet there is no call queue system and two part time people doing one persons job- shows how little they really want non residential people.

I receive direct payments and with the NAS allegedly championing Aspergers

(it seems to get donations) I expected that I would get some support and advice, not fobbed off to Citizens Advice.

Unhappy with what frankly I think comes close to fraud collecting donations from people believing they are donating to Autism/Aspergers Charity and yet when I have a dire situation-they couldn't care less.

I contacted a certain professor and he kindly offered to pass my experiences onto Mark Lever for me and has been a most pleasant person to chat via email to.

I'd hoped that there was some misunderstanding and a professor contacting the chief exec would result in some further contact and assistance.

But no, I had my carer's assistance to visit citizens advice and now have a dreadfully slow solicitor involved- but at least they listened and provided help.

I have also asked my MP to help and been told that they would intervene on my behalf.

So the net result as a documented Adult with written Diagnosis of Asperger hoping for help from the NAS- Nothing and for me the most shocking part of this is the fact that those less able than myself will have nowhere to turn to.

So I've reported the NAS to the charities commission- doubt much will happen

I fully expect the thread to get deleted- but then again it will only confirm that the NAS want people's money and Adults in Care in the community are left with no Support.

Thank You for NOTHING

With my aspergers my high intellect and moral duty are so closely linked. I see dark chess in everything. The NAS is a hub point and with every organisation there is corruption in proxy. So the unfairness of the world is something that I am trying to deal with personally, the way the world should work versus the way it really is,, the worst part of this is those which are suppose to assist and help do not, be it government organisation, health, courts, solicitors, social workers, MPs etc, all good at lip service, but when it really comes to the real part, they are ineffectual. At times, I wish the world would just blow apart and other times I see the beauty of the flowers. Nature is my saviour. Just know it is impossible to change or control these organisations or people, just move on you are just upsetting yourself. The world IS a ***.

Hohner - great minds think alike ! I agree with everything you said and have the same thinking.

I also am a bit peeved with NAS, I was diagnosed with aspergers/ASD last year and expected some help because the NHS virtually told me I had to go to NAS for help, but when I asked for help all I got was a load of PDF's sent by email, basically to me this meant if I want help then look elsewhere ???? even when I phoned up a few times nobody answered.

I have ASD, I find doing things hard, they should know that, I need support to look for support. I can't even phone these places by myself as I have awful verbal communication skills, they should know these things, I just got the feeling I was being fobbed off rather than supported. I was wrong when I expected someone to visit or ask me to go somewhere for an appoinment where they can sit me down and explain what kind of help I needed and what was available. I don't view it as support when you are just emailed a load of pages and asked to get on with it yourself, how can they not understand that those asking for help need help to find the help ?

Exactly the NAS fund raise on the back of aspergers, but they simply do not want to know when assistance is asked for.

My local nhs partnership behave in an illegal and diabolical manner, as you were I was fobbed off and told to contact cab.

Cab confirm the paperwork shows illegal behaviour and disability law service agree.

Nobody followed up to see how things were going, infact there was a fob off and nothing.

The NAS run chargeable coursesvon aspergers and don't seem to practice what they preach.
