Frankley I'm disgusted by the NAS (wait for the Censorship)

I contacted the NAS wanting help as an adult who has been diagnosed with aspergers and now 34.

After a shambles of an advice line that to be totally honest was a waste of time after over a week of trying to get in contact with 2 people doing one persons job.

City Road Address and yet there is no call queue system and two part time people doing one persons job- shows how little they really want non residential people.

I receive direct payments and with the NAS allegedly championing Aspergers

(it seems to get donations) I expected that I would get some support and advice, not fobbed off to Citizens Advice.

Unhappy with what frankly I think comes close to fraud collecting donations from people believing they are donating to Autism/Aspergers Charity and yet when I have a dire situation-they couldn't care less.

I contacted a certain professor and he kindly offered to pass my experiences onto Mark Lever for me and has been a most pleasant person to chat via email to.

I'd hoped that there was some misunderstanding and a professor contacting the chief exec would result in some further contact and assistance.

But no, I had my carer's assistance to visit citizens advice and now have a dreadfully slow solicitor involved- but at least they listened and provided help.

I have also asked my MP to help and been told that they would intervene on my behalf.

So the net result as a documented Adult with written Diagnosis of Asperger hoping for help from the NAS- Nothing and for me the most shocking part of this is the fact that those less able than myself will have nowhere to turn to.

So I've reported the NAS to the charities commission- doubt much will happen

I fully expect the thread to get deleted- but then again it will only confirm that the NAS want people's money and Adults in Care in the community are left with no Support.

Thank You for NOTHING

  • I know where your coming from the goverment 'says' they are advocats in helping adults with ASD, however I'm yet to see it. I too am an adult with ASD diagnosis and although I try my best to fit in with sociaty, I am mother, partner, employee as well as part time study. And at times life is tough, it seems there is loads of charities and organisations that help children and also even adults with severa forms of ASD but those that are on the cusp those who are more likely to be affected by mental health problems are not provided for. Please here our cry's and maybe even cut the mental health commisions bill   , provide some better suport and promote some good organisations to help adults with ASD.
