Online putchases

Can any one please give me some advice, my 8 year old autistic boy who has no sense of money what so ever however is a total technical geek, managed to get on his dads PS4 account and download fortnight and make £250 worth on purchase! We contacted PayPal straight away and we explained to them how he is and they raised it with Sony, Sony have said we can have the money back however will block the whole account, which obviously his dad is not happy with as he has spent more then the £250 on there with games etc he has purchased over the years, has anyone managed to appeal this with Sony at all,  know it’s a very downside mistak to happen and e have learnt from it and password protected everything now, howver I don’t fee it’s fair that they block everything going forward, causes a bad atmosphere in the house at the min, as my son does not understand he has actually done anything wrong, thank you for any help or advice you can give me

Parents
  • Sorry to sound harsh but to be honest, if they will refund the money, take it - and you should consider the inconvenience of having to sort out a new account and deal with passwords is really YOUR punishment for being so careless with your own security.

This is also nature's way of telling you to NEVER to share machines with your kids - this was bound to happen and I think you're VERY lucky that they even entertained the idea of refunding you - if you think about it, I'd bet that all of the Friday night 'drunk purchases' get blamed on kids guessing passwords etc.      Same with 'accidental' ebay purchases.   Smiley

Children
  • This has never happened to us before and we thought the security we had in place on them was strong enough, as for drunken purchases this does not happen as parents of 2 autistic children we don’t have time for that nor would we do so anyway as they need to rely on us,

I asked for advice and help not criticism,

his dad has the account and like most parents of autistic children we all need our little escapes that’s his way of relaxing, I thought this would be a place for parents to be understanding I guess I was wrong!!
