Feel good

I've had a really productive week and it feels good for a change.

I had a week off work and managed to get stuck into painting the kitchen/diner. It took a few days because I can't go fast as I want it as perfect as possible. End result was great but as always I find myself just keep going in the room staring at what I've done.

Yesterday finished on a high note I managed to fix my watch with my watch repair kit after it had snapped in the supermarket after getting caught on a bread tray and snapped a little pin.

The watch itself cost less than ten pounds and my wife said "you get what you pay for" I suppose she was right but no excuse for throwing it away I love it and feels perfect so I just had to fix it.

Has anyone else done anything lately that has made them feel good?

I hope everyone is well.

  • Well, I do like fixing things. And like your examples here, the things I fix have to have some personal relevance and are frequently not all that highly valued by others. They help me feel good about myself, and I can see that I have the same tendency as you to often revisit my successes as a means to feel better ,when I'm verging on a down. Electronics and computer coding are my current pastimes, amongst quite a few others. I can't really say this is much appreciated by the people I live with. They obviously think it is rather mundane stuff. I am a rather uncoordinated person, despite my having some definite skills. I see each project I do as a way to be better coordinated

Glad you had a productive week! I really think this is a constructive approach.

  • Fantastic reply. Yes it is good to have things in life that make you feel good as having an ASC can be hard at times.

I too love electronics fixing broken consoles and upgrading my PC from time to time. Even years ago I enjoyed building a remote control car and fixing an old friends one for him that was broke and surprised him with it when he got home from work.

I've just recently been sanding down my new kitchen work tops and oiled them with Tung Oil. I did a lot of research before picking and applying the oil because I wanted to make sure it was the correct one.

The great thing with Tung Oil is its highly water resistant and also food safe. Me being an Aspie have ended up reading up on the Tung Tree and where the oil comes from its been quite fascinating to tell you the truth.

What other things have you repaired that felt great?
