Feel good

I've had a really productive week and it feels good for a change.

I had a week off work and managed to get stuck into painting the kitchen/diner. It took a few days because I can't go fast as I want it as perfect as possible. End result was great but as always I find myself just keep going in the room staring at what I've done.

Yesterday finished on a high note I managed to fix my watch with my watch repair kit after it had snapped in the supermarket after getting caught on a bread tray and snapped a little pin.

The watch itself cost less than ten pounds and my wife said "you get what you pay for" I suppose she was right but no excuse for throwing it away I love it and feels perfect so I just had to fix it.

Has anyone else done anything lately that has made them feel good?

I hope everyone is well.

  • Kudos to you, Mate!

I am doing a better job with the housework at my home, and I am batch-cooking. Now I'm cleaner and more efficient domestically. Slight smile

My car is at a Mechanic; as the ABS and ESP are faulty. I was driving to a Social Farm outside Claudy last Friday, missed the house I was supposed to visit, and drove onto a dirt lane to fields; with tyre marks dried out because of the hot weather last week. D'oh!

  • Good for you Aidie Slight smile Sounds like a busy but rewarding time for you. Sorry about your nails though! Open mouth

  • In last fews days I changed the oil and oil filter in my car. My car starts much better now :)

Replaced the broken rear brake cable on my bike with parts from another bike. After fixing my bike I went for 6 mile test run and it was a great feeling.

Rescued an aquarium kit from a company skip and I now have a cool LED strip light to find a good use for.  The rest was recycled instead of going to landfill.

completely wrecked my nails so now they need fixed !

  • I love all music, mostly 80s music though. I like OMD, Paul Young, A-Ha, Bowie, Queen, Madonna, Heart, Ultravox and The Beautiful South to name a few.

  • Take my hat off to you, there's no way I could do a job like that. I'm too much of a clean freak. I'm glad you got it done though.

  • Well done on the fix - repairing things for no money gives a great sense of achievement.      I spend my life 'pushing forward' with projects - I'm building a two storey extension on the house and last week I had to rebuild the soil stack.       Grossest job I've ever done but I'm pleased with the results!       Just needed 6 hours in the shower with a wire brush and bleach afterwards,   Smiley

  • Well done on fixing the leak. What type of music do you enjoy? I have various tastes depending on what mood I'm in but my favourite types of band music as I love the drums and guitars Heavy Rock, Pop Rock, Indie and also Electro Dance because of the beats etc.

My favourite bands are Coldplay, Stereophonics, The Verve, U2 and Thin Lizzy.

  • Hi Castle, good on you for keeping busy and having a productive week. It does good to keep busy.

Painting sounds fun. I like to paint but I'm not very good and I usually end up with more paint on myself than the walls... So normally my dad does the painting. Bet your well pleased with the end result.

Great job on fixing the watch. I like to fix things as well, though never fixed anything like a watch before.

Yes, I've been keeping busy at home. I've been up in my attic stopping it from leaking. And I've also been doing a lot of singing in the studio and that's gone well also which has made me feel good. I'm hoping to do some more singing today.

    Have a great week.

  • Fantastic reply. Yes it is good to have things in life that make you feel good as having an ASC can be hard at times.

I too love electronics fixing broken consoles and upgrading my PC from time to time. Even years ago I enjoyed building a remote control car and fixing an old friends one for him that was broke and surprised him with it when he got home from work.

I've just recently been sanding down my new kitchen work tops and oiled them with Tung Oil. I did a lot of research before picking and applying the oil because I wanted to make sure it was the correct one.

The great thing with Tung Oil is its highly water resistant and also food safe. Me being an Aspie have ended up reading up on the Tung Tree and where the oil comes from its been quite fascinating to tell you the truth.

What other things have you repaired that felt great?

  • Well, I do like fixing things. And like your examples here, the things I fix have to have some personal relevance and are frequently not all that highly valued by others. They help me feel good about myself, and I can see that I have the same tendency as you to often revisit my successes as a means to feel better ,when I'm verging on a down. Electronics and computer coding are my current pastimes, amongst quite a few others. I can't really say this is much appreciated by the people I live with. They obviously think it is rather mundane stuff. I am a rather uncoordinated person, despite my having some definite skills. I see each project I do as a way to be better coordinated

Glad you had a productive week! I really think this is a constructive approach.
