Why would someone suggest killing a spider rather than throwing it out of the window?

I was out with two of my friends a few days ago. One of them (‘Friend A’) was speaking about a spider that was in her room, and how they had to throw it out of the window to get rid of it. I didn’t totally hear what my second friend (‘Friend B’) said in response, but ‘Friend A’ said in reply ‘I don’t like killing things’. Therefore ‘Friend B’ must have said something about having should have killed it instead of throwing it out of the window. Why would have ‘Friend B’ said this? Why would they suggest killing a spider rather than just throwing it out of a window?

  • I just want to make the point that this question seems to have originally been posed over 5 years ago, so the puzzle of what Friend B may have said is likely to be long forgotten.  I wonder why such old posts get given a new lease of life - would it not be better to start another after all that time?

    Old threads like this are often resurrected by spammers, which automatically brings them back to the top of the pile. Which is what happened here. Sometimes the moderators later remove those posts (which also happened here), sometimes they just edit them to remove spam links.

    In this case, as often also happens, such old, resurrected threads then prompt fresh replies from the current crop of active forum members. There are already some such replies below, so I was happy to contribute this poem that I felt was also relevant.

    Some very strange people about for sure.  Who'd be a spammer, let alone wish to eat it?  (That'll be another thread if not careful!)

    Technically,  (strange) people create bots.  The human race has a lot to answer for sometimes.

    Perhaps the forum needs some basic 'I'm not a robot' function?  Can it be so very hard ?

    How many of them are people at all (vs bots) is debatable.
