5 year old boy with autism put on sex offender's register for hugging a classmate

I'm sure having autism would make one's life difficult enough without being on the sex offender register for something he wouldn't even have understood.

I personally think feminism has gone too far- dishing out "sex offender" labels to 5 year old boys just isn't appropriate and won't help anyone.

The idea that a five year old has been put on the sex offender register is just plain silly. Here is a statement from the school:

“This family's characterisation of the incident with their child at East Ridge Elementary does not capture the full context of the concerns expressed to them by the school. It was not a hug or kiss that prompted the school to contact the family. Also, at no time did the school administration punish the child or treat the incident as a discipline issue. Moreover, no one at the school sought to label the child as “a sexual predator.” You are confusing ‘click bait’ with actual facts.

To then use this BS to mischaracterise feminism is even sillier, and frankly a little sinister.

The application of aspects of feminist theory to help counter the negative narrative surrounding autism, has been a positive development.
