Obsession

Our son has lots of obsessions and at the moment it is xbox.  I have limited his time on the xbox but even when he comes off he talks about it non stop, he talks about the games and the other players and he gets very excitable and emotional and shouts at us alot.  He wont seem to listen to us when we try and advise him on the situation.   We were thinking about writing down some house rules regarding xbox. Does anyone else have these difficulties? I would be grateful for any advice.  He has had other obsessions which have come and gone, but when one obsession goes something always takes its place.

  • hi - if poss it helps if you can spot what will become an obsession early on, then you can have a plan which gives time to enjoy the obsession + hopefully use it as a way of learning as well,  but stops it taking over everything else that needs doing daily.  I know, easier to say than do, been caught out in the past on a number of occasions.
