Fan

I just figured out today that having a fan rattling away in the room is very soothing. Only took me 58 years to discover that. I would imagine it's fairly expensive to have an electric fan on all year round though. I am a big fan of lamb bhuna and I understand that eating hot spicy food is a good way to keep cool in this freakishly warm weather.

  • I noticed this and had to respond.

I use a fan every night of the year, last week when it was stupidly hot I had 2 one at the end of the bed and one at the side of me, I slept like a baby, funnily enough like you said the noise is really soothing for me as well I don't think it would be that expensive to use one as it's not a heating appliance.

I also have the window open most of the year.

  • Some things can be surprisingly expensive to run - if you leave a desktop pc running it's over £100 per year on its own - filament bulbs running every night can be £50 per year each - it all adds up!    Those black rectangular security/floodlights are often 500W each - and people have 2 or 3 of them running - 1500W - that's almost like a kettle running all the time in the night!
