Suggest a forum- this one sucks

It appears if people express an opinion and discuss with others the way they view the world as a diagnosed individual.

Heavy handed moderation locks a thread which has had calm discussion and has continued with respectful disagreement.

It strikes me that as long as your dependant, helpless and see this forum as unquestionable authority- that is what forum mods want.

Also how can anyone who isn't diagnosed really connect with how we see the world?

Is there a decent forum where people can discuss adult topics without a Moderator who would fit in well working for the chinese government locking and moderating it?

  • So Anonymous is an idea,no leaders and hacks organisations it dislikes-HG Gary Federal looks epic.

Looking on internet they go to student demonstrations as well- interesting, but doesn't look like a group liable to help me?

Or am I missing something hereUndecided I'll take a look at wrong planet

  • Maybe something to investigate?

If you join facebook "Anonymous (uk)" and keep an eye out for William Tell

(the user is several people) they have a knack of uncovering things for disabled and also seem well versed in disability law and options you can take.

It seems your wanting more help than NAS are prepared to offer- could you not try citizens advice?

With regards to comment taking down sites, yes it is relatively easy DDos, Scripting hacks, DNS hacks and software flaws- but no unless the situation becomes one sided or it is beneficial.

Both sides should continue dialogue, it does seem surprising a large organisation such as the NAS are not more hands on- stuffed have you contacted them privately for advice? what support did they offer?

  • Hi Stuffed.

Anonymous are a group of hackers who oppose restrictions online that they feel limit an individuals right to freedom of speech. If you wanna find out more I'd suggest just typing anonymous into the bbc search engine, they've had a fair bit of publicity over the last few years. They often use the Guy Fawkes mask from the movie 'V for Vendetta' as a symbol of their 'organisation'/group.

Alternatively, Stuffed, please don't get annoyed with the moderators. From what I can understand this site is primarily for people like me with a form of autism or the parents/relatives/friends of austic individuals, and is meant to be used as a platform for exchanging information to help each other (such as possible ways to help keep calm), rather than in depth debates (does the government care about mental health for example).

Wrong Planet is the best place for proper debates/chats.

And miss Anonymous, please don't bring the Anonymous group into this, I'm getting the feeling this is just a misunderstanding, and so many people rely heavily on this website for advice and support.

Not being diagnosed isn't the same as not having it.

Whilst I support your cause, miss Anonymous, I would ask that you do NOT threaten or take any form of action against this site.

NAS are a charity that aim to help the vulnerable in society.

Attacking this site would be attacking those that the group you claim to be part of claim to defend.

Epic, well my experience of the NAS has been less than positive so far.

Was Miss Anonymous threatening anyone? seems like a mask and jumping around surrounded by mystery to me.

Miss Anonymous could you explain what it is all about, other than the mask etc please?

    Hi there,

As you are probably aware, this community is funded by charity, and operated partly through the goodwill of volunteers. As such, we cannot moderate every possible discussion. With a City Road Address- come on who is fooling who

We are not in the business of censoring people's opinions. However, it is important for users to understand the difference between free speech and a free platform. Threads which have nothing to do with autistic spectrum disorders, or which do not provide material for discussion, may be closed simply to keep things manageable. If we judge that a thread has become excessively confrontational, or is being used as a means to spread intolerance or prejudice, we will close it. All users agree to our rules when they join the forum. Obeying these rules is part of participating here.

Unless you are diagnosed with a particular disorder, how do you know it hasn't got EVERYTHING to do with Autism

There are other forums with different rules and different emphases, and some discussions may be better suited to those. There is, of course, no reason not to have similar discussions in several forums, as users' responses may be quite different.

As a starter, have you looked at Wrong Planet?
     I'll look
    Best wishes,

  • Okay, what just happened here?

I expected a snotty reply and suggestion of a forum or two, or possibly thread deleted.

Has someone been watching too many batman movies or similar?

  • We came here looking for information regarding our relative, clicking on New discussions we saw your post.

If this is really the case it should not be allowed to happen
