Am I a snob?

First a confession, I am a shopaholic.  I have to visit shops every day.

Yesterday, I visited three budget shops.

  1. Aldi, I found the people there to be crude, vulgar, common people with no manners.
  2. Fulton's, the shoppers and their clothes smell, don't these people bathe ? Or do laundry?
  3. Poundstrecher, the faint smell of old vomit made me feel sick.

I prefer Waitrose and M & S.

  • Greetings...Um... because it is YOU (!), I shall write a reply of sorts. As usual, I say that I am less often Online Lately , and that others may entertain your good self better with Online interaction...

    My answers (waffling):

    - Aldi. - I personally go to LIDL(!). But my main point is, just pick up what is wanted, ignore ignoramuses, and get out. Keep enquiries short and simple, and/or simply say Thank-You and end the discussion. One may shop there but one does not have to become one of them...

    - Fultons - My word, I have neither heard of this Shop nor visited one. This is a new one on me, Sir. (A New thing for a New Year?)

    - Poundstretcher - I prefer Poundland. Awful, all of them, but I just go in and get out quick. They sometimes sell a lot of good and/or expensive stuff cheaply. And weirdly.

...I keep writing this next, too much: Others may post better stuff than I have just now (!). But the thing is, when a shop has a thing which is necessary, but the shop itself is quite intolerable (?for Autistics?), then I kind of steel myself, brace myself, maybe hold my breath, go in, get what I seek, say perfunctory pleasantries if necessary, and just get out.

I try to stay neutral... if people stink or are ill-mannered, then I myself focus upon the wanted purchase instead:

"You, common person, had nothing to do either with the development nor the purpose of this product which I am purchasing via yourself, and so that is *your* lookout, not mine. I bid you a good day regardless of your own vulgarities!"...That is what I think but never say...

...Hey, but that is just my opinion...  HappyNewYear now-- :-D

  • Hi DC I had to venture into pound land as they are the only ones who sell the brand of cigarette rolling papers I like, called zig zag and very thin, I had heard they had fitted self checkouts, oh dear I had no idea where to start, the women walked over just scanned the few bits I had and said “ cash or card?” I said cash, she tapped the button and just walked away,,, how kind, no attempt at interaction,

I can tolerate most shops, even big supermarkets, I do get very tense, most people are ignorant and abandon trolleys in the middle of aisles,, barge passed as if they own the place?

I love small charity shops, I meet real people and love chatting when I do, how very un aspie of me,, but it does involve my special interest so ok,,, clothes,,, colour, stereotypes,, preconceived ideas of what males must wear, Sadly I do get pushed aside especially if I am trying to look for colourful boho style clothes that only ever exist on the female racks, in all the time I have frequented charity shops I have never once seen any beuatiful colours or patterns within the men’s clothing, just black grey white or brown, devoid of any colour or pattern,

and so I write a great deal in reply to yourself.

Not all aimed st you but as you say focus when an item is needed, then out and away,
