  • Hey!  My son is 4 too and I managed to toilet train him during Easter holidays.  I bought a toilet training chart from ebay specifically for ASD and stuck it on the fridge.  Basically, just a simple chart with piece of velcro across it and a bag of different pictures with velcro on for him to choose and stick on his chart.  Wasn't easy though! I started the day with him just in tshirt and pants. He wet his pants 11 times before lunchtime!! I just kept reassuring him that it didn't matter and still took him to sit on the toilet after.  The one time I managed to catch a little bit of wee in the toilet and made such a fuss about what a good boy he was. To be honest though, by the middle of the afternoon, I was ready to give up!  I'm so glad I didn't though as just as I was getting him in the bath on that first evening, he said he needed a wee!!  We had a few accidents the following few days but after then he did great.  Still in pull ups during the night though and not ready to tackle that one just yet!

I think perseverence is the key. I toilet trained my ASD boy the same as I did with my other two children but just a year or so later.  I honestly didn't believe that the day would come that my son would be out of nappies and I didn't think he would "get it" but he did.  It is really hard, but try and lock yourself in the house for a few days and go for it.  I'm sure he'll get there x
