Any success with homeopathy?

Hi

Just wondering if anyone has had any success with homeopathic remedies for autism? I am thinking about booking an appointment with a homeopath but thought I'd ask first before spending lots of money!! Thanks

  • Okay, I think I will close this discussion. I'll look around for some impartial views on homeopathy to share but in the meantime I think this is likely to attract professionals promoting services.

  • Hi,

Cheers for the report - that message reeked of spam to me as well and clearly breaches our registration rules on advertising. I've left the remaining comments up but the spam account has been blocked and the original post by the advertiser has been removed.

    Reported to NAS.

@anyone that reads Dr Oskin's post:

    1) Homeopathy is not a cure for anything - Homeopathy is a con.

    2) Even if Homeopathy did do anything, Autism is not a disease!

Do not allow this snake-oil salesman to give you false hope.

  • Homeopathy is an alternative medical approach treating 'like with like'. I find it offensive that people still want to treat autism/asperger. Do you, Doctor. Oskin, have autism and know what it is like to see the world differently like I do? Let people with ASC decide what we want. Parents need support, which will involve Government investing heavily in support services and education. Homeopathy is rejected by mainstream doctors, you can't get it on the NHS for a reason. Parents are desperate, but they really need respite, specialist teaching, and continuing support for their children when they reach adulthood, if this is required.

  • Autism is not a disorder, Asperger Syndrome certainly is not - it is a difference, a condition, and has many positive features: focus, passionate interests, motivation when pursuing interests, great enthusiasm and curiosity for interests, honesty, keen sense of right and wrong, to name a mere few of the features that people with AS often have. Society indeed has a disorder because it does not accept difference, although hopefully things are changing. So it is futile trying to cure autism. And with regard to OCD and co-existing conditions which can be modified, CBT is the best approach along with specialist support in the everyday world.

  • oh no thank you that not for me.

Autism is not a disease, so homeopathy won't work.

Even if autism was a diease homeopathy wouldn't work!

Homeopathy doesn't do anything beyond what any placebo might.

  • I agree. Autism is not a disease, so homeopathy won't work.

  • Don't bother.

    Homeopathy is a con.

Go out and buy some sugar lumps, or a bottle of distilled water, because that's all their pills and potions are!
