Two in one family

Hi, I've got two sons with ASD. The eldest has Fragile X and Epilepsy as well. The youngest doesn't have fragile X but I am waiting for the first fit. Does any one else have any experience of this. We were under the impression that the eldests childs ASD was caused by the fragile x but no-one ever mentioned the possibility of the second child being the same without the gene.

  • To put it simply, ammadom, as I understand it (I'm no expert, just someone with Asperger's) ASD does not imply Fragile X and/or Epilepsy, nor, I believe, vice versa.

    Think of it like this: Not all people with blond hair have blue eyes, and not all people with blue eyes have blonde hair - it's the same with ASDs and other commonly associated conditions.
