Meet your plants

This was inspired by another member’s suggestion.

I thought it might be fun if our houseplants (or garden plants!) introduced themselves. Blush

Hi, my name’s Molie the Monstera. I’m quite easy-going, although I do enjoy a bright spot by the window. I’m always reaching for the light and proudly showing off my new leaves. Please don’t overwater me… I like a drink, but not wet feet! Seedling

Feel free to add a photo of one of your plants and let them introduce themselves too. Houseplants, garden plants, wildflowers… everyone is welcome!

  • The camera on my phone is busted, but my favourite plant is asimina triloba.

If you Google it, you will see that it is a 'must have' plant. The tree is native to North America. It produces fruit that looks like a mango. You can grow it in the UK, as it will survive our frosts. I've only tasted a jam of it. It has strong butterscotch flavour, like a Werthers Original, but with caramelised pineapple and melon.

There are many varieties to try. You'll never see them in supermarkets, as they spoil very quickly, once picked.

I have seedlings, but due to ill health, I'll have to rehome them.. it was a nice idea though.

  • Yes that’s a very pretty plant the flowers are so beautiful Blush

  • Interestingly, the flowers release a pungent odour and are pollinated by ants and flies instead of bees.

I also have the british mulberry (morus nigra), but it takes about 12 to 15 years to fruit. You can find the tree in public parks all over the UK.
