Meet your plants

Oh, plants definitely talk when they're thirsty. They wilt. I don't have cacti, so I can't help. They do make beautiful flowers though. Good luck with Tubby Marianne72

Tubby is a he? He wil flower eventually. Don't over water cacti.

I didn't understand your post,but it's cool that you have Tubby <3. Where do you keep her in the winter? Is she in a pot?

I'm Tubby, a 5 year old cactus. Marianne wonders why I haven't flowered, but seriously, would you flower stuck in a south-facing window in this heat year after year? I was born in a damp Devon climate and never been to my natural home and never will, as my owner dislikes flying. No, I don't want you to see me. She stuffs me with liquid feed [thinking this might encourage me to flower]. No wonder I developed a headache. It's as if spines are stuck all over my head. Actually, there ARE spines all over my head. What a life! Don't talk to me about climate change, I'm right in the middle of it. And I'm surrounded by a whole pack of 'me's who don't even talk though we all have the same birthday. People think cacti are dull but they don't understand how hard it is, with nothing to do except expand. Once you've flowered no one looks at you for a whole year. But unlike her other plants, at least I'm not spineless  .

The camera on my phone is busted, but my favourite plant is asimina triloba.

If you Google it, you will see that it is a 'must have' plant. The tree is native to North America. It produces fruit that looks like a mango. You can grow it in the UK, as it will survive our frosts. I've only tasted a jam of it. It has strong butterscotch flavour, like a Werthers Original, but with caramelised pineapple and melon.

There are many varieties to try. You'll never see them in supermarkets, as they spoil very quickly, once picked.

I have seedlings, but due to ill health, I'll have to rehome them.. it was a nice idea though.
