For me it's tending my plants. It takes my mind off everything.

Doing the dishes or sorting the garage and shed. I find turning dirt and chaos into neat and order very mindful, distracting, and it contributes meaningfully to our life together, which helps my self esteem
Also, a therapist found a surprising place in my past which sometimes I can access in my head
It is Nuneaton Trent Valley railway station. Its late summer in early 1970s, a hot afternoon, no passengers waiting and fewer staff. Im sat on an old porters truck watching tbe heat haze, noticing the mingled aromas of grease and diesel and grass and rose bay, then spot far in the distance a loco heading south. It will not stop, speed is 100mph as screams through, the wash scattering all dust and pollen and insects to a trailing cloud. The calm-still returns, my head stills, calms. And I return to the present
