Losing myself

I feel like with the stress of the world and my relationship I have begun to lose myself more and more. I end up struggling, feeling overwhelming anxiety often.

As I lose myself I feel the autistic traits becoming more prominent. I become more isolated and just generally lose motivation. I dont recognise myself and forget just how I used to be. I lost confidence and a sense of humour over time. I have recently been put on antidepressants but they take a while to kick in.

So just wondering for anyone else who has lost themselves and how they used to be - how did you go about rediscovering it?

  • I understand how you feel, I was in a bad place in 2024. When I fully realised that something needed to be done, I started taking antidepressants and then I made the difficult decision to see a councillor. She taught me so much and she helped me see things differently. With her support, I began to feel more and more like me again. My main struggle was letting go and moving on, but she taught me a journaling strategy that still helps me in 2026. But I needed to be kind to myself too.
I hope this helps you! Xxx
