Worried about elections

I'm really worried about what will happen if Reform get elected in the Sennedd, they want so many things that will have a huge negative impact on people like me. I'm not sure I'd want to carry on living in Wales if that happened, it was bad enough after Brexit, but I'm not sure I feel safe living anywhere.

  • There’s no question that it’s an alarming thought that Reform could get significant power in any part of the uk. I can totally understand your concerns - I’m sorry that this is so unsettling for you at the moment. Politics is a mess right now. I’ve voted Labour all my life but I don’t feel I can vote for them anymore. The way I try to keep myself in a reasonably positive state now is to do my best not to think too much about the future. If I can’t do anything to change it then there’s no point in dwelling on it really. I practice mindfulness, living in the present moment as much as I can. I don’t watch too much News either - because I used to watch a lot of News content and Politics programmes on tv and radio - and it just got too depressing in recent years. It helps me to get less preoccupied with what’s happening politically. I watch as much as I need to be informed on the essentials, but not so much that it starts to impact on my mental health and well being.

  • I disagree, to say there’s no question gives off a vibe you think a majority don’t want them and yet they do.  To take an objective stand that there simply NO question is a very person way of approaching things.  Maybe just maybe sometimes think what other people may want and feel, [Content has been removed by a moderator because it did not follow our community rules.]

  • Of course you’re entitled to your opinion, but it’s also the case that there is a lot of legitimate concern about how Reform would run things if they were to get into power. For example the other day Farage made statements about want to slash the Welfare bill ‘even if it resulted in rioting in the streets’. That doesn’t sound like a man who intends to look after vulnerable people, or listen to and take on board the concerns of the people. Also Reform’s statements on immigration could easily encourage racist sentiments in people prone to that kind of thinking. Whilst people might have reasonable concerns about the impact of immigration in the uk it’s a delicate issue that needs handling in a way that doesn’t encourage hatred and division. I’m not convinced that Reform have the experience or the motivation to bring the country together and focus on looking after people in the uk who need support. They believe in ‘small state’ policies - which means less public services and less support for the vulnerable in society.

  • Thanks for allowing me my opinion Rofl So what you are doing is disingenuous, you are 1. Taking things inside a vacuum and 2. Cherry picking parts that reflect your personal feelings.   Would you agree it to be true to say when politicians talk they are not directly taking to you personally? Have you watched any reform news conferences they do one every Monday which I don’t see any other party doing.  Thats pretty transparent isn’t it? When people do say something like ‘even if riots on the street’ do they want riots or are they suggesting this is something that needs to be done and striking that sentiment home? Did you see or are you purposely missing out Nigel Farage said “although of course everyone wants to look out for the most vulnerable as that’s important.” Or are you just ideologically driven?

And linking immigration to forms of racism is wild, as they are not mutually exclusive.  People that come into any country illegally and live off the tax payers moneys while services dwindle then you already have your problem.  Small state is a good thing, stops everyone prying into everyone else’s business and gives people individual freedoms to better themselves.  Maybe the 10billion pounds spent on the world dregs can go back into Britain like it should.  Help out failing education system etc.  you need to do more research I think.
