panic attacks

Has anyone else ever had panic attacks one after each other?

This morning for about two hours I was having panic attack after panic attack (even though I had taken my beta blocker)

How do people deal with this? (I rarely have panic attacks one after each other now, and it scared me that I might just be in a state of panic regularly)

  • Hello

Thank you for sharing this with the Community. I'm sorry to hear that you've been experiencing panic attacks. You might find it useful to have a look at our information on anxiety, which includes advice on how to cope:

    https://www.autism.org.uk/advice-and-guidance/mental-health/anxiety

If you are struggling and feel that you might need some support with your mental health, it is important to try and get the right help. You may want to start by speaking to family, friends or carers you trust about the difficulties you are experiencing.

You can approach your GP for advice and a referral to mental health support and services. The Mind website has useful guidance on approaching your GP and how to prepare for the appointment. There’s also a PDF guide you can download.

You can use our Autism Services Directory to find counsellors in your area. Mind also has information about finding a therapist or you can search on the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy’s website.

    All the best,

    Chloe Mod

  • Can I ask you a question Chloe Mod … I see anxiety and panic attacks as two different things, different symptoms and should be treated differently. I have experienced both, for me panic attacks are very physical and Ive only had a few in my entire life, and all during the pandemic. Anxiety is something different which I live with most days. Its that pit-of-the-stomach certainty that something bad is going to happen. They can both be treated with meds but different ones, for panic attacks, whilst frightening are over with in minutes, yet anxiety can gnaw and gnaw for hours days months years.

So can you clarify your understanding of the difference, or not, between panic attacks and anxiety? Pink C spoke of panic but you replied it seems to me about anxiety

    thanks
