The dreaded day approaches

The day where I have to do all the migration to UC from ESA, I know I posted on it before and Bunny gave me some places to go for advice, but I can't find the thread.

Yesterday I looked at all the stuff for it on the government website and it looked really scary. Is there an actual physical form or is it all online? Do you get a chance to save it and go back to it? I'm reluctant to ask the CAB for help as the last couple of times I've had contact with them have been very negative, punishing and extremely NT.

My only consolation is that I can procrastinate as the forms not sue until the end of the month, but I know I've got to screw myself up to do this.

  • I have no advice really but I just wanted to send you words of solidarity and support. The system is designed to intimidate us. Sadly we have no choice really but to engage with it. In my experience putting it off only makes it worse - deal with it as soon as you can to get it over with. Do whatever you can to take care of yourself while you are forced to engage with this incredibly hostile and toxic process. We are more than this - try to not let it diminish you. • I need to time it with when my benefit lands in my bank account, so as hopefully I don't have to long between one ending and the other starting, I also didn't want to do it earlier as I've just had my car's MOT and I knew it would need some work doing to it.

I will contact the place Bunny mentioned for help. I looked and all I could find was the CAB, I don't understand how others get results on searches that I don't?

In your web browser, click on the address bar at the top of the page - it will currently say  https: //community.autism.org.uk/f/mental-health-and-wellbeing/44502/the-dreaded-day-approaches

Now delete that text and type in duckduckgo.com

This is a search engine that doesn't have Googles way of shaping the results in a way it chooses so you can see the hidden options.

It lacks a little of the functionality that the Google search page has but does a much better job of looking after your privacy.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DuckDuckGo

DuckDuckGo does not track its users, User locations are never sent to DuckDuckGo servers and  offers limited third-party tracking protection, third-party cookie protection, CNAME cloaking protection, limited device fingerprint protection from third parties, link tracking removal, Google AMP replacement, and do-not-track requests.

I hope this makes it easier to search in future.

  • Well I think for a start I'd have to spell Anglesey correctly!

It dosen't seem to matter what form of words I use, I rarely get the thing I'm looking for, what's really weird is that someone else can search for the same thing with the same form of words as me and get loads of results.

  • what were the search words you used?

These are most likely the cause of getting the lack of results.

If you search for "anglesea welfare" then you would get the page you wanted but not if you used "uc to esa migration anglesea".

Sometimes you need to play with the word combinations and break it to the most simple word choices. Multiple searches are typically needed to get a full range of results, just like if you were looking up an index in an encyclopedia.

  • Thanks Iain, but searching like that dosen't work for me, I get the same results as I do if I put the search bar in the middle of the screen, if it was that simple I'd of done it ages ago when it was forst explained to me.
