This seems to be a newly recognised thing. A dark empath is one of those who pretends empathy to manipulate you.

Do you think labels are getting out of control? I've met loads of people like this and just refered to them by words begining with B.

I don't know about labels and I hadn't heard that one.

What you said however made me think of psychopaths.

I've met a few of those, especially in the workplace.

From what I read it's more related to narcarcism than psychopaths, but I think the results are the same, if you think you've found one run away!
