Trigger warning: Girl gets arrested, seemingly for being Autistic in a built up area.

Firstly: As the (annoying) commentry indicates we don't know all the facts here.

Secondly: It's a "zero hedge" article featuring PJW, so will be utter anathema to some people.

Thirdly: It's morbidly interesting, and somewhat thought provoking.

  • It’s over Police have decided not to charge as the news tells me. https://www.itv.com/news/calendar/2023-08-10/police-receive-complaint-after-video-shows-autistic-girl-being-arrested

given that the police apparently had the entire incident recorded on camera that strongly suggest that they felt that whatever was said would not of been serious enough to fly in court as an actual criminal offence.

this girl no longer needs to worry about facing criminal charges. The police involved however absolutely need to worry about the complaint but has been made and also potentially civil litigation for discrimination under the terms of the equality act.

after all if no crime was committed they just arrested a girl very forcefully and aggressively who had autism in an extremely distressing way for no actual reason.

I do hope the family involved take the sensible step of making a subject access request under the data protection act. The body cam footage of them being arrested is personal data and under normal circumstances they would have a right to have a copy. That footage will prove extremely useful in any civil case.
