Are there any antidepressants that don't make you feel like ***? (sensitivity to side effects)

Please fucking help. I've been on Citalopram 10mg and that made me really sick and even more suicidal. I've been prescribed Fluoxetine recently which has scary side effects still, but is it more likely to make me worse because of its sensitivity? The sexual side effects are scariest, then nausea and vomiting is second.

  • Yo Jakey

I'll be honest - it's a game of trial and error.

Fluoxetine - I have never been more a risk to my own life than when I was taking this. *** was dark..

Citalopram - spiked my anxiety badly and also made me so nauseous.

I'm on Setraline now and have been for a while and it's fine.

ALL drugs take a settling in period and they will ALL have side effects that (usually) wear off, so it's just a bit of trial and a bit of waiting. Either way, life is worth continuing living for so don't give up on us buddy.

    Keep us posted.

  • Great, the NHS is trying to kill me.

  •  Mate. No.

It's just they react very differently with different people - you can't predict how you're going to feel.

I'm NOT a doctor but what I don't suggest is bouncing between drugs. You're going to feel like *** if you do that so don't.

it takes 4-6 weeks for a drug to start working, and you must take it consistently, so trying to decide after a few days or switching regularly, is never going to be a good shout.

PLEASE call NHS 111 tonight if you feel unwell, they will help. If you're having a mental health crisis, they will phone you an emergency service (trust me).

Good luck and let us know.

  • They tell me to go to my GP. Which won't help because my GP doesnt' help.

  • Jakey - hold up, hold up. You're going to be fine.

Do you have a phone near you? Call 111 and say you feel like taking your own life. THEY WILL HELP YOU. I swear, I've been there before.
