Light and eye damage

Does anyone know if looking into a flashlight that's light is led and output is 800 lumens will damage my eye?

I've been so anxious lately and I'm finding a comfort in light it seems to wash calming effect over me.

I looked up damaging eye but sunlight only really comes up as serious damage but I'm not sure if it would be healthy. I don't want to be blinded or develop problems in my eye but at the same time it's becoming an obsessive urge and I'm struggling to resist.

I'm not sure what's causing it. I think it is anxiety.

  • I would say ambient, difused light of a shaded floor/desk/ceiling lamp, that's at the right spectrum wouldn't hurt, avoid cold/blue light, and that's majority of LEDs

Direct light even at the right spectrum if to strong might be damaging - I can't stare into a candle flame even without feeling like it's burning my eyes

but there might be multitude of reasons why you long for it, including those aformentioned muscles that need stretching, you need to find out, and the only way is experimenting, just be careful

  • Hi thanks. I have a night light which has been helping with this but I do also have an eye test tomorrow.
